The Peugeot 404 convertible (say "cabriolet") originally
came in a limited, but not in the least bit bland, set of colors. If in the meantime
you've painted yours purple with fake leopard skin seats and pink tassels
well, you
might not be able to sell your 404, but who wants to?
So, you bought that purple and fake leopard skin 404 and your dog
refuses to get in. Or, you just want to change from old, boring 'Saratoga White' to
something else. If you want to stick to the original Peugeot 404 cabriolet colors, I've
put them below. You should review the colors you see below with a 'real-world' Peugeot
color sampler, nothing guarantees that what you see is what I originally scanned! The
color set below is from a 1962 'teintes and garnitures' guide for the cabriolet.

The whites seem to have yellowed with time, perhaps the car
color should too? The sky blues are the same but scanned differently, trust the brighter
one, it seems to be nearer to the mark. See purple just wasn't a choice and Tango Orange
(Yes!) was reserved for the first sedans!
From a 1967, US Peugeot promotional pamphlet, we
also have a color chart (car type was not specified except for the Metallic grey
fro the sedan) :
