The Peugeot 404 coupe (or 2 door hard top) was first presented at the
Paris car show in October 1962 and built from 1962 to 1968. Like the cabriolet,
it was initially proposed only with an injection motor ; when the dust
settled the coupe production run numbered 5196 for the injection model
and 1638 for the carburetor model. Some of the details that set the coupe
apart include the central folding armrest in the back (ash tray included
!) and the rear indented window. Like the cabriolet, the coupe does not
shares any metal bodywork with the sedan model. At least two colors, dark
blue (1057) and graphite gray (1055), were available for the coupe but
not the cabriolet.
