The Peugeot 404 Break or Station WagonThe Peugeot 404 break or station wagon or family saloon was not only used as an ambulance and a police car ; it is a great family car. The break was introduced, like the coupe in 1962 (Salon d'octobre - model year 1963) and replaced the 403 station wagon. This station wagon was also called "404/9 longue", "404/8 longue", "404 diesel longue" and represents the different "Familiale" or "Commerciale" models. In 1965, the Superluxe version came into appearance. The Familiale, intended for up to 7 to 8 persons, has the detailing (interior decoration, wheel covers, chrome, etc...) of the Grand Tourism sedan ; while the Commerciale, intended for up to 6 persons and a 225 kg load, has a simpler presentation (less chrome, a grill with only two horizontal bars, etc...).
